The names, translated DEP/MEP = a phthalate exposure marker. MEP is the urine marker researchers measure; DEP is used in some fragranced personal-care products. Methyl & propyl paraben = preservatives. Research examines possible endocrine and reproductive effects; human evidence is still limited and sometimes conflicting.

In HERMOSA, 100 girls switched for three days to personal-care products labeled free of selected phthalates, parabens, triclosan and BP-3. Several urinary markers fell. This measures exposure, not a health benefit — but it shows everyday product choices can change measurable exposure markers.

41 healthy women: after 15 minutes of bergamot vapor, salivary cortisol was lower than after rest alone. Cortisol is a hormone involved in the stress response; some fatigue and negative-mood scores also improved. The finding applies to these study conditions.
